Today I had sushi. I love sushi so let's get down to it.
This is my order from planet sushi it's called the planet midi ; they do different menus, the translation for this one is "planet midday" and for 12 EUR you get the sushi with rice, cabbage salad, soy sauce, wasabi (I am doubtful on this being real wasabi...no tears when I ate it...) and sliced ginger. You may also have noticed that this is not my usual office background, one of my workmates is leaving for London (where she will eat lots of delicious curry, lucky her) and so we all had a farewell lunch in one of the meeting rooms where I work.
The cabbage salad, it was sort of boring flavorwise but nice and crunchy nonetheless.
and a simple bowl of rice. My favorite is sticky rice but if I can't have that Japanese rice is a close second, especially when they put that excellent vinegar in it...I'm so looking forward to my trip this summer when hopefully I will be eating sticky rice in some lovely Lao place overlooking the Mekong...counting down and less than 4 months to go!
Here is the sushi itself, it is the most common garden variety tuna (thon) and salmon (saumon), with 4 maki: 2 salmon and 2 avocado (avocat), and some salmon and tuna chirashi as well as the wasabi and the sliced ginger. When my finances allow I will perhaps make a trip to the rue Saint Anne, near the Opera (Garnier) and get some very excellent sushi in one of the Japanese restaurants there (more variety and much more authentic).
Still this was a good lunch, fresh and delicious as lunches should always be.
See you tomorrow and happy lunching!

I've made sushi rice before. It's very easy to make and lovely.

Mmmmm. You know, the newest thing for me (since I've gone 'healthy') is eating sushi made from BROWN rice. It sounds weird, but it actually tastes very good - adds a nutty flavor to the food. Ever try brown rice with sushi?

Stop it Betty and please get back to Rodez...tell me about Cantal (I buy mine at Layfayette Gourmet, it has these sort of sugary sour cristals in it, and it is bliss), bleu d'auvergne, that excellent volcanic soil, and then, Saint Nectaire, oh please, talk to me about cheese...
