Food blogs Around the World

Sites I like - food

  • Monster Munching
California Asian, need I say more...the epitome of good eating! Here's another one to put on your list of must consult everyday...it just all looks so delicious and yes, indeed, someway, someday I'm going to go and have lunch in Sunny SoCal.
  • Chow Times
This is so, so good! and it's Asian too. So in keeping with tradition that means good photos, lots of info and most especially good food! I can't believe I've only just discovered this fab blog.
  • Chubbypanda - The Epicurious Wanderer
Interesting, informative and thought provoking. Excellent photos (and lots of them too), restaurant reviews and some excellent recipes as well. This is a fairly new blog just started in August and has a decidely Asian (my favorite) flavor.
  • mmm-yoso!!!
Asian food blogs are the best and Kirk's blog is just outstanding. Based in San Diego this blog has lots of delicious photos and is an entertaining read as well; one of my favorites. Can't wait to get to San Diego. Bravo!

Le Tréport - Lunch in Normandy

It's a miracle - two entries in only one short month...Collioure just did not meet my expectations, it was the Mediteranean, a sea and not an ocean and so I had to get away once again...

In September I went to Le Tréport:

Fog, chalk cliffs, the ocean, and:

Oysters... and more oysters:

I had lunch at a wonderful place called l'homard bleu

P1010329

Sole and gambas, and then the dessert

P1010334

Le Tréport is in the Seine Maritime, in Normandie - you can hunt for mussels there....

But you must wake up early, during the grand marée

Of course the fish market is open all day:

Thanks to these guys:

Where will I lunch next?

Lunch in Collioure: anchovies, ice cream, and tapas

Collioure is a lovely well-preserved French mediterranean town.  I was there this past August with my daughter Maya (although I do not recommend that you go in August because it's too crowded - perhaps it's better to go off season)

P1010183

and, there are lots of restaurants and lovely historical things to see - as you will see...

P1010170

Mist, melting ice cream, some cute little boats, and a Vaubon castle all in the same photo! We got the ice cream here:

P1010168

I have never seen ice cream displayed this way before, someone took a lot of time finding all the little toys and special things for the display and it was good - here's another one in case we've missed something:

P1010166

Collioure is also really famous for anchovies and so of course we ate some:

And we had  some fish and things:

We also tried the tapas which of course included anchovies:

P1010135

Collioure is right close to the French border with Spain and so their food habits are perhaps very Spanish - I had never eaten these long thin shellfish before - in French they are called couteaux (knives) and they are very good!

Maya is always on a diet so she had a particularly lovely salad:

And I'm too old for diets so I had the pizza:

P1010162

The pizza was really nice! and now that you've seen what we ate here are some pics of where we ate it - after one more nice food photo, of course:

P1010222

If possible you should eat here on the beach:

This is what the inside looks like- very colorful:

So from Collioure, this is Emily signing off

Happy lunching, always and forever...
